Shoka is a winner of the Wa Ikebana Award 2022.
Shoka Healey has been studying Ikebana for 10 years, developing a deep passion for the art form. She was named Best New Teacher (Wa Ikebana Award) at the WA Melbourne Ikebana Festival in both 2022 and 2024. In 2023, her work was selected for the photo book, Hanadayori 2023 (ISBN 979-8-88-069527-0) as part of the festival.
Shoka’s Ikebana creations have been showcased in numerous exhibitions, including the WA Melbourne Ikebana Festival, Sogetsu Victoria Exhibition, Ikebana International Melbourne, and the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.
Currently, Shoka is engaged in a research project titled The MIndfulness Potential of Ikebana: A Study on Senior Well-Being, exploring the therapeutic benefits of Ikebana.
She was recently awarded a residency on King Island, Tasmania, where she hopes to share the mindfulness practices of Ikebana with the local community, fostering creativity and well-being through this traditional Japanese art.
